Recognizing Pro Bono Volunteer Contributions

PROBONONJ appreciates and values the thousands of volunteers who spend vast amounts of hours each year assisting low-income New Jerseyans. Each participating organization has its own unique way of recognizing and acknowledging their volunteers. Here are some of the ways that volunteers are recognized throughout the state.   • 2017 Equal Justice Award Reception

  • Legal Services of New Jersey—The Pro Bono Experience

  • Legal Services of New Jersey holds annual events each year to recognize individuals, law firms, and corporations that make extraordinary contributions to pro bono.

  • The New Jersey State Bar Association holds an annual event in which pro bono volunteers are honored for the pro bono work provided throughout the year. The NJSBA receives nominations from organizations, law firms, and corporations.

  • Some county and other bar associations also give out annual awards.

  • Participating organizations often place stories about pro bono volunteers in various media outlets.

  • PROBONONJ recognizes volunteers from nominations received from Legal Services and pro bono colleagues, who are featured on this website.

  • Pro bono organizations may nominate individuals and law firms for a variety of national awards.
